Paul Matthew Bonanno, 58, of Hilo died Thursday, Feb. 28. Born in New Jersey he retired as an executive chef at Harrington’s Restaurant. Graveside service to be held at Mauna Kea Memorial Park Cemetery on Wednesday. Service at 4 p.m. Survived by wife, Lynn Workman of Hilo; son, Sir Lovey of Hilo; sister, Pamela Previch of Volcano; two nieces and one nephew. Arrangements by Borthwick Hawaii Funeral Home, Hilo.

Segunda “Goding” Gandalera, 77, of Captain Cook died Feb. 21 at her residence. Born in Captain Cook, she was a retired housekeeper and worked at the former Kona Surf Hotel and the Kona Bali Kai Resort. She worked for C&W Maintenance as a maintenance person, and was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and the Altar Society. Friends may call at 8 a.m. March 16 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Honaunau for a 10 a.m. Mass. Casual attire. Survived by sons, Pedro (Carolyn) Gandalira of Kealia; Augie Gandalera and Henry Gandalera, both of Captain Cook; hanai sons, Lino Sebastian of Captain Cook and Keone Case of Waimea; daughters, Catherine (Mickey Jr.) LaMarco of Ocean View, Frances (Oscar Sr.) Garcia of Captain Cook; brothers, Eugene Pancho and Paul (Carol) Pancho, all of Honolulu; brother-in-law, Ed Timboy Sr. of Honolulu; sisters, Jane Pancho of Hilo, Bobbi (Sam) Pemberton of Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Patrick Kuuipo Kawaauhau, 56, of Kahului died March 2 at Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Pahala, he was a warehouse supervisor for Royal Hawaiian Movers on Maui. Visitation from 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 23, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Maui Lani Stake Center. Services at 10:30 a.m.; cremation to follow. Glenn Kearns, 89, of Hilo died Friday, Feb. 22, at Pohai Malama Hospice of Hilo. Born in Santa Clara, Calif., he retired as an architect. Private services held. Andrea A. Macalma, 96, of Honomu, she passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2013 in Hilo, Hawaii. She was born on November 16, 1915 in Loaog City, Ilocos Norte, Philippines; she was Homemaker and a member of the Honomu Good Shepherd Catholic Church and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo, Hawaii. Friends may call Friday, March 15, 2013 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo, Visitation from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.; Mass at 10 a.m. Casual attire; burial at Alae Cemetery. She is survived by sons, Andrew Pascual of Hilo, George Macalma of Seattle, Washington and Merlin Macalma of Honomu; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Margaret Lowry Mackenzie, 92, of Volcano, died March 7 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in East Orange, N.J., she was a homemaker and member of Noe Noe Golf Club in Volcano.
